When to convert JPG to PNG
PNG is lossless, so every save preserves the pixels exactly. That matters when a file is going to be edited repeatedly, or when it needs a transparent background that JPG cannot store.
The trade-off
Expect the file to get larger, often several times larger for a photograph. PNG buys exactness, and pays for it in bytes. If the goal is a smaller file, convert to WebP instead.

About converting JPG to PNG
Will converting JPG to PNG improve quality?
No. The conversion preserves the current quality of the JPG but cannot restore detail lost during original JPG compression. The benefit is preventing further quality loss in future edits.
Will the PNG file be larger?
Yes, typically 3-5x larger than the JPG. PNG uses lossless compression which preserves every pixel, resulting in larger files. Only convert to PNG when you need lossless quality or plan to edit.
Can I add transparency after converting?
The converted PNG won't automatically have transparency. White areas remain white. However, you can use design tools like Photoshop or Canva to remove backgrounds once the image is in PNG format.
Are my images processed securely?
