When to convert PNG to WebP
WebP keeps the transparency PNG is usually chosen for, while being substantially smaller. For logos, icons and anything with an alpha channel it is the better modern choice.

Does converting PNG to WebP lose quality?
WebP supports both lossless and lossy compression. At 90% quality, the difference from the original PNG is virtually imperceptible. You can also set quality to 100% for near-lossless results.
Will my transparent PNG stay transparent in WebP?
Yes! WebP fully supports transparency (alpha channel). Your transparent backgrounds, logos, and icons will convert perfectly.
How much smaller will my WebP files be?
Typically 25-35% smaller than PNG. The exact savings depend on the image content. Images with large areas of solid color see the biggest reductions.
