Case study · Youth sports nonprofit, Hamilton OH
Hamilton United Girls Basketball.
The season, in one place.
A volunteer board running one team at every grade from kindergarten to 8th, out of a single gym in Hamilton, and answering the same handful of parent questions by text all season.
The same six questions, every week, by text
Hamilton United is run by volunteers with day jobs. There is a team at every grade from kindergarten through 8th, practices and games sit at one building, and the questions that arrive do not change much from week to week. When does registration open. What time is the game. Which gym. What does it cost at the gate.
Answering those one message at a time is the real cost of having no site. The build had to put the recurring answers somewhere a parent could reach on a phone at seven in the morning, and it had to stay updatable by a board that changes every couple of seasons.
Built around the season, not the org chart
The home page leads with what happens next rather than who we are. The registration date, the live schedule, gym directions and what to bring to the gate all sit above the fold, because those are the four things a parent actually opens the site to find.

The parts that do the work
This one is built in React on Vite rather than the Eleventy stack most of the portfolio uses, and prerendered so every page arrives as real HTML. It is still hand-coded with no page builder underneath it, and it is still one flat monthly price.
91 on Lighthouse desktop
Run it against the live site yourself. The score below is Lighthouse's own report, not a graphic we drew.

91 is the lowest desktop score in this portfolio and the photography is the reason. The club leads with full-bleed gym and game images, because that is what makes a parent recognise their own team, and that choice costs something. The largest element still paints in 1.4 seconds with nothing shifting on the page while it loads.
